Meade Family Chiropractic

The word “Chiropractic” is actually a grouping of the Greek words “chiros” and “praktikos”, which roughly means, “done by hand”. Chiropractics itself attributes its origins to Dr. Daniel David Palmer, who performed the first ever chiropractic treatment in 1895. Today, most agree that they are a safe, effective alternative to your conventional treatments, such as antibiotics and surgery. Following is a brief description of what’s involved in becoming a chiropractor.
The chiropractic program consists of 4 years of professional education. They must study anatomy, physiology, pathology, biochemistry, microbiology, and public health. After that the student goes on to clinical sciences and clerkships. These include lectures, laboratories, and clinics.
They will not only learn the above, but must learn about adjustive techniques/spinal analysis, principles and practices of chiropractic, physiologic therapeutics, and biomechanics. Also, they have 3 areas within the clinical sciences, such as, techniques/spinal analysis, physical/clinical/laboratory diagnosis, and diagnostic imaging. Finally, the student has to cultivate an ability to communicate effectively with his patients, in order to develop a clear understanding of their lifestyles.
There are various types of specialty training in family practice, nutrition, rehabilitation, and industrial consulting. They may also specialize in rehabilitation, which can include radiology, orthopedics, family practice and clinical sciences. They must also participate in a continuing education, requiring from 3 to 25 clock hours per year in some states, to maintain or renew a license to practice.
What few people realize is that there is more to chiropractics than back pain. Chiropractic services often concentrates upon the nervous system, which in turn controls the entire body. When Dr. Michelle A. Meade makes an adjustment, he isn’t simply “pushing bones.” She is providing a pathway into the nervous system, and allowing an ideal pathway out of that SAME system. In effect, if you come in for a simple examination you’ll often find that much more than your back problems can be solved. In our offices, our goals aren’t simply to provide pain relief, but also to supply general good health.
